Andrew or AJ as he is better known has been playing and studying guitar since the age of 8 starting with classical and then moving to electric guitar. He auditioned aged 11 in London and gained acceptance to play electric guitar in The UK's National Youth Rock Orchestra under the watchful eye of guitarist Mr Phil Hilbourne, this lead to two successful shows supporting one of the worlds scariest speedster guitarists Paul Gilbert and America's jazz/blues guitarist Scott Henderson in prominent venues in Bath Forum and London's Southbank Queen Elizabeth Hall where he ​played lead guitar solo's in both performances.

His success aged 12 and 13 in auditions for The National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland led him to be selected for their training orchestra which enabled him to further develop his skills in the playing of jazz guitar. He was also asked to open as a solo artist for The Fete De La Musique at the French Institute, Edinburgh gaining invitations from local papers and web based publications to be featured as their artist of the week. These included American Blues Guitar News, The Musicians Network and local newspapers such as the Fife Free Press and Courier.

At age 14, AJ put together a three piece band playing lead and rhythm guitar, they recorded and gigged throughout Scotland notching up some great venues. They were chosen to record an EP in conjunction with the Scottish Arts Council Youth Music Scheme and received interest from a music management organisation in Glasgow. The band split in late 2008 with its lead singer leaving for Australia, Andrew contined to build on his playing becoming a multi-instrumentalist  enabling him to work on solo home recording projects.

He studied popular music for two years to HND level at the University of the Highlands & Islands, Perth having been accepted and offered a study place at the young age of 15.

After leaving his studies he opened Sunnybrae Studio offering private tuition in guitar, bass and drums to children and adults of all ages. 

 

AJ is now offering full band and solo artist recording, mixing and mastering services for demo's, ep's and albums. Voice recording and podcast services are also part of the many available facilities which are provided at Sunnybrae Studio.
